1. Activity carried out

During the workshop, we introduced VivaLab and its operation, addressing in detail the issue of plastic and all the treatment we carry out in our space. We explained the origin of the Precious Plastic project and its founders. Then, we conducted a dynamic activity with the children, in which we illustrated the "Plastic Pathway Story", highlighting the cycle that plastic goes through when not separated correctly in recycling bins. The children were able to conclude that unnecessary waste accumulation in landfills can be avoided and that plastic can be reused for the production of new objects, through the correct recycling pathway.

In the second part of the workshop, we specifically addressed the use of plastic bags, aiming to demonstrate to the children the various possibilities for reusing this material. The proposed objective was to create bookmarks. Initially, the children assembled strips of plastic bags on a sheet of tracing paper and then, with the help of an iron, fused them together to form a sturdy bookmark. Subsequently, with the assistance of scissors and other pieces of plastic bags, they were able to decorate the bookmarks according to their preferences.

VivaLab's presence at EB Afurada de Cima School was a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and promote awareness of the importance of proper plastic waste management. We hope you enjoyed the workshop and gained a broader understanding of the plastic recycling process. See you soon!
