The month of March brought an exciting opportunity for architecture students at AEFAUP as they participated in workshops held at VivaLab. While it's common for us to welcome students from FAUP and other institutions, this time we opened our doors to offer two introductory workshops on digital fabrication tools.
In the first workshop, we delved into the science, uses, and advantages of Laser Cutting technique. Participants had the opportunity to directly experience the machine and create fun props for the group photo. It was a unique opportunity for them to understand the practical applications of this exciting technology.
In the second workshop, we explored the fascinating world of 3D printing, discussing its history and the various technologies involved. Participants were able to build simple models or download projects from open-source sites like Thingiverse or Printables, before testing their creations on our 3D printer.
